FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
How can parents stay connected with what's happening in Ascend?
Each month, we send out a parent newsletter with updates about what's happening in Ascend. We also provide a quarterly calendar each season with upcoming youth group dates and events. This is available in the lobby at church and you are welcome to take one home. We also will send a digital copy in our emails.
To make sure you receive these updates, please fill out the Google Form below so we have your most current contact information. This helps us keep you informed about everything happening in our youth ministry.
What are the age groups of who can attend Youth Group?
Any student entering 6th–12th grade is welcome to attend Ascend Youth Group. Whether you're new to church, exploring your faith, or have been following Jesus for years, we'd love to have you join us. You do not have to attend our church to participate. Everyone is welcome!
What does a typical youth group look like?
This summer, we launced a new youth group format in July that now meet every other Sunday beginning July 5th. Our group meets from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This will be the new program we launch in the fall. We will meet every Sunday, outside of holidays and special occasions, starting 9/13.
• 3:45 p.m. — Leaders arrive for a prayer huddle.
• 4:00 p.m. — Youth group begins, and students arrive. Students are welcomed with snacks, Italian sodas, video games, board games, and other activities. This time is intentionally designed to help students connect, build friendships, and create a welcoming environment before the evening's lesson begins.
• 4:35 p.m. — Announcments and Bible Lesson
• 5:00 p.m. — Small groups: middle school and high school students will split into two different groups to discuss the message, share life updates, and pray together.
• 5:30 p.m. — Group Game
• 6:00 p.m. — Youth group concludes.
What are the expectations for students who attend Youth Group?
At Ascend, our goal is to create a safe, welcoming, and Christ-centered environment where every student can Belong, Grow, and Serve. To help make that possible, we ask every student to follow these Youth Group Expectations:
1. Be Present
Please place your phone on the charging station during youth group. This helps everyone stay engaged, participate in discussions, and build meaningful relationships without distractions.
2. Keep It Church Appropriate
Use language, conversations, jokes, music, videos, and other content that are respectful and appropriate for everyone. Think PG—our words and the things we share should reflect the kind of community we're building together.
3. Respect the Building
We use many different areas of the church throughout the evening. Please help us care for our building by respecting each room and leaving it as you found it. Snacks are available in The Gathering Place. Please leave food and snacks in other rooms alone.
4. Respect Boundaries
Help us create a safe environment for everyone by respecting personal and building boundaries.
• No public displays of affection (PDA).
• In the church, if a door is closed, please leave it closed unless a leader opens it for an activity.
• Outside of designated game or activity times, students should remain in The Gathering Place or use the restrooms as needed.
These expectations help make Ascend a place where every student can feel welcome, build friendships, and ultimatly grow in their faith.
